Next Concert

Our 2024-25 season is being prepared at the moment. We are planning two projects:

Amica mea: Renaissance Love Songs

For Valentine’s Day 2025, Brighton Consort takes you on a journey through music for lovers from the Renaissance. Both sacred and secular music will embrace in this concert that is guaranteed to kindle your passions.

Sowing Tears and Reaping Joy: From mourning to rejoicing

Drawing on the rich heritage of Renaissance laments, and focussing especially on the many settings of King David’s lament for his son Absalon, Brighton Consort contrasts music for mourning with music brimming with life and a spirit of joyful triumph of life over death.

These two projects are on top of a return for us to the Brighton Pavilion for some Christmas music this December.

You can always consult our Next Concert page for all the most up to date information about our future plans.

Brighton Consort presents four or five concerts each year in Brighton and the surrounding area. In addition, we help to further knowledge of renaissance and early baroque music by running occasional workshops, which are led by some of the U.K.'s greatest experts on the repertoire.

Our musical director, Greg Skidmore, was appointed in August 2021 to succeed James Dixon.

Greg is well known as an expert in the interpretation of Renaissance vocal music and he has a high profile as a performer with prestigious groups such as The Tallis Scholars, I Fagiolini, The Sixteen, Ex Cathedra, Alamire, Tenebrae, and Contrapunctus. He brings to the choir a wealth of experience and great ideas for our future.

At this important stage in the development of Brighton Consort the choir is keen to recruit new members with a love for this style of music. Anyone interested is invited to email us on info@brightonconsort.org.uk for more details. We currently have vacancies in all voice parts.
